Week of Oct. 28 AM kindergarten

Hello parents we have been having a “SpookTacular” time in Kindergarten this week!

1. Students listened to the book ‘The little old lady who was not afraid of anything’. We stopped when the little old lady heard a knock at her door then students made predictions or educated guesses on who/ what came knocking on her door. Below are a few students work.

2. Students finished these delightful jack-o-lanterns and we had a chance to decorate our door with them for the Halloween parade on Thursday!

Doesn’t our door look amazing!!

3. Other Halloween crafts were done at the teacher table and students had a choice to complete a craft and take home ☺️

Please Note: Tomorrow Thursday Oct 31st  students are welcome to dress up in their costumes for Halloween.

We will also have an assembly from 9-9:30am. Parents are welcome to attend the assembly followed by a parade around the school!

PM Kindergarten

This week students were engaged in sorting activities.  Our class learned about how to sort by colour, shape and size. We also learned a new poem called "5 Little Pumpkins".  We also used the poem to inspire us to build a gate for the 5 little pumpkins.

Paper Art Kindergarten PM Class

Rip Art Activity
Students created a pattern of their first initial using two colours of construction paper. Tearing paper is an amazing fine motor activity for children. Tearing paper requires strength and endurance of the small muscles in the hand.

Week of Oct. 7 AM KG

On Monday students took a look at retelling the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’.  Students cut and put the events in order from what happened first, next, then and last.

Tuesday and Wednesday students listened to the book ‘Mouse Shapes’ and part way had to predict what the mice would build, using shapes, to scare the cat. Students had some terrific ideas for example: Robot, dragon, snowman, dog. Below are a few examples of students work.

Thursday was October 10, so students explored the number 10 by using their understanding of shapes and numbers to show the number 10. For example some students drew 10 moons or 10 happy faces, etc.

Reminder tomorrow (Friday Oct. 11) and Monday Oct.14 will be No School for PD day and the Thanksgiving holiday. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend and will see everyone on Tuesday Oct. 15 :)

Also Picture Day will be next week on October 17!
